The latest album by ‘our very own’ Maarten van der Vleuten, entitled The Scars Remain, will be released on tonefloat this month, February 27th. It is a very fine work on 2LP, combining Maarten’s usual intricate ambient synth compositions with some newer elements. On the one hand, we can hear a continuous line [...] On January 1st 2011, 21:00, Central European Time, German drone and dark ambient artist Phelios, the project of Martin Stürtzer, will give a concert from a studio that will be broadcasted on the Internet for all to hear and see. All you have to do is tune in to the following website at the right [...] The most important Dutch radio show on experimental music, X-Rated, will become a 24/7 Internet radio station starting January 1st 2011. Apart from the traditional live show on Sunday night between 9pm and 12pm, we can now tune in whenever we want to hear a selection of the finest tracks from over four decades of [...] A new EP by our first label artist Richard Moult was released in a very limited subscription 3″ on the label Rural Colours, but it is now also available as a free download from archive.org. Only recently, after reading his necrology for a local bookstore, we complimented him on the way he was able to fill such memorial texts with true poetry and touching words. “Yes,” he said, “but why does it always have to be necrologies?” Perhaps because we only realise what we’ve lost [...] Machinist & Mendel Kaelen side label The State-X New Forms festival for experimental music, based in The Hague, introduced its very own band and artist contest in 2009: X-Vektor. Two aspiring Dutch artists were the winners of the contest, and the reward was not only a performance on the festival itself, last December, but [...] The new album by Finnish progressive folk masters Tenhi is due to appear in summer 2010, according to the label, Prophecy Productions.
