Ideell is an ambient project by Alexander Eldefors from Sweden, who is only 16 years old. Despite his young age, Grunn turns out to be a very good release with some enjoyable, drifting ambient. It was released in early 2007 on the Swedish netlabel Mirakelmusik, which is run by Erik Svensson of Vägskäl and The Figurehead.

"Someone Had A Thought, I Know Who" is a track based on very subtle glitch and rhythm, with an obscure melody over it. Small scintillating sounds and a soft piano melody are woven through this, and that gives the track a rich sound. The second track is constructed in a comparable fashion, but with a slightly more tranquil melody. Here there are some effects in the form of bells and a faint manipulated voice. This little EP ends on an even more peaceful note with the serene "Happy Ending", which again comparable in buildup to the other tracks, but stands out because of the melody used. The whole release has slightly solitary and natural feel to it, as is suggested by the trees on the cover.

I think this is a very well done release, and a great achievement. This a relaxing ambient EP for lonely summer nights.
