History
Evening of Light was started in October 2006 as a bilingual Dutch/English webzine dedicated to dark experimental music and alternative culture. Our aim was to provide a platform for the discussion of music that wasn’t always easily categorised, but which had a certain dark or melancholic atmosphere, regardless of whether the it fell into any established genre like goth, folk, ambient, electronica, or somewhere in between. Apart from that, we presented articles on various cultural subjects (literature, film, history, etc.) to provide background for certain themes that resonate in some of the music we encountered.
In June 2009, the Evening of Light label was founded to extend this philosophy to a new medium: published music with strong visual and textual supplements.
In November 2009, we tranferred the website to a new content management system, which greatly improves and simplifies the management of the website, as well as the ability for readers to find the articles they are looking for and linking to content on our site.
